Website Maintenance Services & Plans
Updates, backups, security monitoring, and small fixes for one flat monthly fee, from $99/mo. Your site stays current and working, and you get a plain-English report every month.
What is a website care plan?
A website care plan is a monthly website maintenance service: one flat fee covers the software updates, backups, security monitoring, and small fixes that keep a site healthy. Instead of paying a developer to rescue a broken site, you pay a smaller amount to stop it from breaking in the first place.
Most small-business sites fail quietly. A plugin update conflicts with the theme, a contact form stops sending, an SSL certificate expires, and the owner finds out weeks later from a confused customer. Maintenance exists to catch these problems before your visitors do.
You need a care plan if your site brings in leads or sales, runs on WordPress, or was built by someone who is no longer around to call. You probably do not need one for a static one-page site you plan to replace next quarter. We will tell you which case you are in. We have shipped 60+ projects, and maintenance is where we see what actually goes wrong after launch: not dramatic hacks, mostly small failures nobody was watching for.
Every engagement ships with these as a baseline.

What does our website maintenance include?
Every care plan covers the same core work. What scales between plans is how much of it you get and how quickly we turn it around.
Software updates
WordPress core, plugins, and themes updated on a schedule, with a rollback path for when an update breaks something. Unpatched plugins are the most common way small-business sites get compromised.
Backups you can actually restore
Backups stored off the server and tested. A backup nobody has ever restored is a hope, not a plan.
Security monitoring
Malware scanning, file-change detection, and login hardening. When something looks suspicious, a person investigates. You do not get forwarded a cryptic automated alert to decipher yourself.
Uptime monitoring
We watch whether the site is up and whether the things that matter (forms, checkout, booking) actually work. “The server responds” and “the site works” are different claims.
Small fixes and content edits
Swap a photo, fix a typo, update hours, add a team member. Small requests get handled inside the plan instead of piling up until they justify a project.
A monthly report in plain English
What we updated, what we fixed, what we noticed, and what we recommend next. No dashboard screenshots without explanation.
How much does website maintenance cost?
Lumien care plans start at $99 per month. The entry price fits a standard brochure or marketing site: updates, backups, monitoring, small fixes, and the monthly report.
The price moves with three things. Complexity: an ecommerce store or a site with custom functionality has more parts that can break, so it costs more to maintain than a five-page brochure site. Workload: how many content edits and small fixes you send us in a typical month. Stakes: a site where an hour of downtime costs real money justifies closer monitoring and faster turnaround.
Roughly by site type: brochure and marketing sites sit at or near the entry price. Stores and sites with booking, membership, or custom integrations sit above it, priced after we have seen the stack. Custom applications are quoted individually.
Most website maintenance services hide their prices behind a sales call. Ours are public on the pricing page, and work beyond plan scope is billed at our published $40-95 per hour rate, quoted before we start the clock. We would rather lose the buyers who only wanted a mystery discount.
What does WordPress maintenance cover?
Most of the sites we maintain run WordPress, and WordPress is where maintenance matters most. The ecosystem’s strength, thousands of plugins, is also its main risk: every plugin is third-party code with its own update cycle and its own security history.
Monthly WordPress care with Lumien covers core, plugin, and theme updates tested before they reach production, PHP version compatibility, database cleanup, removal of abandoned plugins, and license tracking for the paid ones. We also watch performance over time, because plugin creep is the usual reason a WordPress site gets a little slower every year.
When speed problems run deeper than housekeeping (a heavy theme, unoptimized images, underpowered hosting), we fix them as a scoped project through our website speed optimization service. The care plan then keeps those gains from eroding.
Not on WordPress? We maintain Next.js sites as well, since we build on both stacks, and we can usually take on other platforms after a short audit tells us what we are dealing with.
Response times and what a care plan does not include
We reply within 24 hours on business days, and a site-down report goes to the front of the queue. We will not promise you a five-minute hotline, because at this price point nobody can staff one honestly.
Here is what a care plan is not. It is not a retainer for redesigns, new features, or new page builds. It is not a marketing subscription: ongoing search work is our separate local SEO services engagement. And it is not unlimited development hours for $99 a month. Anyone selling you that is planning to underdeliver.
When a request goes beyond plan scope, we say so before doing the work. Small overflow is billed at $40-95 per hour with your approval first. Larger work becomes a scoped proposal, in writing within three business days, priced by milestone so you pay for delivered work, not promises.
That boundary is the point. A care plan stays affordable because its scope is disciplined, and you always know which side of the line a request falls on.
Sites we maintain
We are a senior-only team with 15+ years of combined experience and 60+ shipped projects. Maintenance here is not an intern’s job: the people applying your updates are the same people who build sites for a living.
Our case studies show the range of what we keep running. FixHomeService, a home-services company in Czechia, depends on its site for lead flow, exactly the kind of business where one broken form quietly costs money every day it goes unnoticed. Golden State Trailers runs a real parametric 3D configurator, which means updates have to be tested against custom code, not just clicked through and assumed fine.
We also maintain our own production systems: a monday.com CRM console with a Claude AI assistant, and an AI news publishing pipeline that runs on Claude. When we talk about backups, monitoring, and disciplined updates, it is because we live with the consequences of skipping them ourselves.
If your site was built by someone else, that is normal. A common reason people buy website maintenance services is that the original builder disappeared. We start with an audit, then a plan. If the site needs bigger changes first, our small business web development team handles rebuilds too.
What the work returns.
Real systems we have shipped with this service.

How much does website maintenance cost?
Lumien care plans start at $99 per month for a standard marketing site. Ecommerce stores and sites with custom functionality cost more because there is more to update, test, and monitor. Work outside the plan is billed at $40-95 per hour and quoted before we start. All of our prices are public on the pricing page.
What does website maintenance include?
Our website maintenance services include software updates, offsite backups with tested restores, security and uptime monitoring, small content fixes, and a monthly plain-English report. Redesigns, new features, and marketing campaigns are separate, scoped projects, and we tell you before any work leaves plan scope.
Is a website maintenance plan worth it?
It depends on what the site does for you. If it brings in leads or sales, a plan is cheap insurance: recovering from a hack or a silently broken contact form usually costs far more than a year of basic maintenance. If the site is a placeholder you intend to replace soon, skip the plan and put the money toward the rebuild.
What is a website care plan?
A website care plan is a monthly subscription covering the routine upkeep a site needs: software updates, backups, security monitoring, and small fixes. It replaces the common pattern of ignoring a site until it breaks and then paying emergency rates. Lumien care plans start at $99 per month.
How often should a website be updated?
Software updates should be applied at least monthly, and security patches as soon as they are released, because known vulnerabilities get exploited quickly. Content should change whenever your business does: prices, hours, team, and services. A site untouched for a year usually has both problems at once.
Can you maintain a website you did not build?
Yes, and it is common. We start with a short audit to map the stack, plugins, hosting, and any custom code, then tell you honestly whether the site is maintainable as-is or better off rebuilt. WordPress and Next.js sites are the easiest for us to take over, since we build on both; other stacks we assess case by case.
