The starting point.
Cosset is a premium Ukrainian brand producing freeze-dried natural treats for dogs and cats. As an ecommerce business, the company relies heavily on digital marketing to acquire customers and generate online sales while maintaining a strong premium brand position. Before increasing advertising investment, the client required a reliable analytics implementation capable of measuring the complete customer journey and accurately identifying which marketing activities contributed to revenue.
Purchases alone couldn't explain marketing performance
Tracking completed purchases alone was not enough to understand marketing performance. Customers frequently discovered the brand through multiple advertising channels, returned several times before purchasing, contacted the company with product questions, or interacted with social media before completing an order. Without a structured measurement framework, attribution remained unreliable, customer journeys were incomplete, and marketing decisions were based largely on assumptions rather than verified data. As advertising activity expanded, these limitations made campaign optimisation and budget allocation increasingly difficult.
A GTM-led measurement stack for the full ecommerce journey
A complete measurement architecture was built using Google Tag Manager as the central implementation layer, allowing all analytics and marketing platforms to operate through a consistent and scalable tracking framework. Google Analytics 4 was configured to capture the full ecommerce journey, including product views, customer interactions, checkout progression, completed purchases, enquiry form submissions, cooperation requests, phone clicks, email clicks, Instagram interactions, and other business-critical conversion events. Where standard GA4 measurement was insufficient, custom events were developed to accurately capture user behaviour specific to the client’s business processes. Every implementation was validated using Google Tag Manager Preview Mode, GA4 DebugView, and comprehensive end-to-end testing to ensure reporting accuracy before deployment. Microsoft Clarity was integrated alongside Google Analytics to provide behavioural insights through heatmaps and session recordings, helping identify friction points throughout the purchasing journey and supporting future conversion rate optimisation initiatives. Meta Pixel and Google Ads Conversion Tracking were also implemented to provide reliable conversion signals for advertising platforms while improving campaign optimisation and audience creation for remarketing activities. To improve attribution across all acquisition channels, a structured UTM tracking framework was introduced using consistent naming conventions for campaigns, traffic sources, and marketing mediums. This enables every visit, conversion, and purchase to be accurately associated with the marketing activity that generated it, providing a reliable foundation for future reporting and advertising decisions.
