Project context

The starting point.

ArtGO Sport is an international WooCommerce store specialising in premium pole dance apparel and accessories. The brand serves customers worldwide through its online store and relies on digital marketing to generate sales. Before scaling Google Ads, the client needed a reliable analytics infrastructure capable of measuring the complete purchasing journey. For an eCommerce business, tracking only completed orders is not enough. Understanding how customers move through the shopping funnel is essential for improving conversion rates, identifying bottlenecks, and making data-driven marketing decisions.

The challenge

Only completed orders were visible, the rest of the funnel was dark

Without a complete GA4 eCommerce implementation, the business could see only the final purchase, while most of the customer journey remained invisible. Customers often browse multiple product categories, open several product pages, add products to the cart, begin checkout, and leave before completing their purchase. Without measuring these interactions, it is impossible to determine where users abandon the buying process, which products generate the highest purchase intent, or which stage of the checkout flow requires optimization. Incomplete tracking also limits Google Ads optimisation because automated bidding performs best when it receives accurate first-party conversion data throughout the purchasing funnel.

The solution

A complete GA4 eCommerce funnel in GTM, validated and fed to Google Ads

A complete Google Analytics 4 Setup was implemented using Google Tag Manager as the central measurement platform.

Rather than tracking only completed purchases, the implementation measured the full eCommerce journey recommended by Google Analytics. Events were configured for product list views, product selection, product detail views, Add to Cart, View Cart, Remove from Cart, Begin Checkout, shipping information, payment information, and completed Purchases. Additional events measured contact form submissions, phone clicks, email clicks, and Instagram interactions to provide complete visibility into every meaningful customer action. Tracking the entire funnel allows the business to understand exactly where customers leave the purchasing process, compare conversion rates between checkout stages, evaluate product performance, and identify opportunities to increase revenue through conversion rate optimization. Google Ads Conversion Tracking was configured for the primary business conversions, while Conversion Linker ensured accurate attribution across advertising campaigns. Google Ads Remarketing audiences were built using GA4 events, allowing campaigns to re-engage users based on their behaviour throughout the purchasing journey. Microsoft Clarity was integrated alongside GA4 to provide heatmaps and session recordings, helping the client understand not only where customers abandoned the funnel, but also why those drop-offs occurred. After validating every event in Google Analytics 4 DebugView and Google Tag Manager Preview Mode, Purchase conversions were imported into Google Ads, enabling automated bidding strategies to optimise campaigns using verified sales.

What the results meant.

The completed analytics implementation gave the business complete visibility into the entire customer journey, from the first product interaction to the completed purchase. Instead of relying solely on final sales data, the client can now analyse every stage of the purchasing funnel, identify checkout bottlenecks, evaluate product engagement, and make optimisation decisions based on real customer behaviour. This provides valuable insights for improving both website conversion rate and advertising performance. With accurate Google Ads conversion tracking and a fully implemented GA4 eCommerce framework, campaigns can optimise using reliable purchase data while remarketing audiences and behavioural analytics support long-term revenue growth and more efficient advertising spend.
